All the flavors of a classic chili cheese dog baked into a gooey, crispy, crowd-pleasing casserole!
Ingredients
For the Chili Base:

1½ lb ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

1 tbsp tomato paste
-
1 tbsp chili powder
-
1 tsp ground cumin
-
½ tsp smoked paprika
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Casserole:

8 hot dogs
-
8 hot dog buns (slightly stale works best)

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
-
1 tbsp melted butter (for brushing buns)
Optional Toppings:

Sliced green onions
-
Pickled jalapeños
-
Crushed tortilla chips
-
Extra shredded cheese
Instructions

Make the Chili Base:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned (6–8 minutes). Add onion and garlic; cook 2–3 more minutes. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10–15 minutes. Set aside. -
Prepare Buns and Hot Dogs:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the insides of the buns with melted butter and arrange in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Place a hot dog in each bun. -
Assemble the Casserole:
Spoon chili over and around the hot dogs and buns. Top evenly with shredded cheddar cheese. -
Bake:
Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and buns are golden around the edges.

Garnish and Serve:
Let cool for 5 minutes. Top with green onions, jalapeños, or chips if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
