Description

Classic, buttery, sweet cookies with crisp edges and soft, chewy centers — the perfect anytime treat!


Ingredients

  • 2¾ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1½ cups granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 3 tablespoons milk

  • Extra granulated sugar, for rolling


Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:
    Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • Mix Dry Ingredients:
    Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  • Cream Butter and Sugar:
    Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Add egg, vanilla, and milk; mix well.

  • Make Dough:
    Gradually mix in dry ingredients until soft dough forms.

  • Shape and Bake:
    Roll dough into 1½-inch balls. Roll each in extra sugar.
    Place on baking sheet, flatten gently with a glass.
    Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are set, centers slightly soft.

 

  • Cool:
    Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack.
